Local flavors

In Aegialia, as in the rest of Greece, gastronomy is an invaluable heritage of centuries that has a leading role in daily and social life and is an integral part of its history and culture.

As in the rest of Greece, local culinary traditions are deeply rooted in Aegialia and play a leading role in daily and social life as an integral part of the region’s age-old history and cultural heritage.

Aegialia is widely acclaimed for its host of fine local products: from the celebrated Vostizza blackcurrant and the outstanding extra virgin olive oil with its mesmerizing color and wonderful fruity taste, to the fragrant and juicy citrus, divinely bitter olives, traditional rose sugar, and great collection of premium wines.

Vostizza blackcurrant

Exclusively grown on the gentle slopes of Aegialia, this local superfood is renowned for its delightful aroma and juicy taste, high nutritional value, and potent antioxidant and cancer-fighting properties.

Rose sugar

Made locally by monks in the Taxiarhon Monastery for over a century, this traditional spoon sweet is based on a secret recipe of processing rose petals from fragrant roses grown exclusively in the monastery’s orchard.
